The collective future we're taking action for

Dear Friends,

Last weekend, I saw a social media post where someone was thrilled the 4th of July events were cancelled in their area, as they didn’t like the current administration and felt we had nothing to celebrate.  

It annoyed and saddened me because the truth is that celebrating our country, our precious 250 years of democracy, what we’ve been through, where we want to go, and all of our possibilities is a big-picture focus rather than the narrow-minded focus of whether or not we love or despise the current administration.

Celebrating the 4th of July and our nation's 250th is about cherishing what’s important to us – our people, our freedom, and our country, and when we get together with our neighbors, we see that despite having voted differently, our values are more alike than they are different.  

We can’t believe the rhetoric that gets airtime and clicks on the news and social media (almost half the time those are bots, folks!). We need to step out our front doors and get to know the people who happen to live near us.
